cite, quote, repeat

這些動詞均含“引用，復述”之意。

cite : 指引經(jīng)據(jù)典以示證明或憑據(jù)。

The devil can cite Scripture for his own purpose.（魔鬼也能引經(jīng)據(jù)典為自己辯護。）

Can you cite another case like this one?（你能舉出與此相似的另一個例子嗎?）

quote : 指不加剪裁的直接引用原文或原話。

The author frequently quoted Shakespeare.（作者不斷地引用莎士比亞的話。）

Don't quote me on this, but I think the company is in serious difficulties.（不要向公司重復我所說的,可我認為公司面臨著嚴重的困難。）

repeat : 僅強調口頭或筆頭重復別人的話或字句，并不必指明出處。

The children repeated the words after her in chorus.（孩子們跟她齊聲朗讀單詞。）

Grandfather is forgetful and often repeats himself when he tells a story.（祖父很健忘,他講故事時常重復。）
