contain, include, embrace, involve, comprehend, hold, comprise

這些動詞均含有“包括，包含”之意。

contain : 普通用詞，所涉及的物體常常是其組成部分或內容。強調包容關系。既可指具體有形的東西，也可指抽象無形的東西。

Rice contains protein and fat.（大米含蛋白質和脂肪。）

include : 普通用詞，指一整體包含著各獨立的部分，也指某東西包含另一東西的某一部分。

Their course of study includes elementary hygiene and medical theory.（他們的課程包括基礎衛(wèi)生學和醫(yī)療知識。）

embrace : 正式用詞，指把某事物納入整個之中。

This course of study embraces every aspect of the subject.（本課程涉及這門學科的每個方面。）

involve : 把包含因整體的性質決定的成分或結果。所包括的往往是無形的，不可觸知的東西，多用作引申。

These changes in the business involve the interest of all owners.（這些營業(yè)上的變更涉及所有股東的利益。）

comprehend : 正工用詞，指包含在整體范圍以內。

The park comprehends all the land on the other side of the river.（這公園包括了河那邊的整個土地。）

hold : 常和contain換用。指能夠容納或有足夠的容納量。強調包容能力。

The box can hold all my clothes. （這箱子能裝下我的全部衣服。）

comprise : 書面用詞，暗指一個整體包括不同部分所組成，可與include交換使用。

The fishing fleet comprises around 70 boats.（捕魚船隊由大約70艘漁船組成。）
