cover, lid

這兩個名詞都有“蓋子，遮蓋物”之意。

cover : 泛指所有的遮蓋物。包括蓋子或書籍、雜志的封面等。

The book needs a new cover.（這本書需要裝個新封面。）

lid : 通常指可以揭開的如箱蓋、壇蓋、壺蓋等蓋子。

He lifted the lid of the box and looked inside.（他揭開箱蓋往里看。）

crazy, mad, mental

這些形容詞都表示“發(fā)瘋的，精神錯亂的”之意。

crazy : 通俗用詞，指極度的神經(jīng)錯亂或精神失常，也指對事物的狂勢，失去自控能力。

There were a lot of crazy, dangerous people in the street.（在街上有很多發(fā)瘋的、危險的人。）

mad : 語氣比crazy正式，但系普通用詞。通常指人精神狂亂，完全不能自我控制的一種病態(tài)。

Don't fight with him, he is a mad man.（別跟他打架, 他是瘋子。）

mental : 通常指患有精神病的。

A mental hospital has just been set up here.（這里剛剛建成一座精神病醫(yī)院。）
