off the top從頂部。擴(kuò)展off the top of one's head意為在我頭腦里最先想到的，引申為“不假思索、馬上”。

重點(diǎn)：在日常生活中說(shuō)的化妝，不是make up而是make-up。make sb up=把某人化妝成別的樣子，make sth up=把某個(gè)事情編造成別的樣子。

【例句】

I rarely use make-up.

They made him up as an old man, for the last act of the play.
