Metaphor:

Metaphor is a unique way of describing something by connecting two ideas. The connection can be funny, strange or beautiful but a good metaphor will always leave a strong impression.

Metaphor:

Myths are ancient stories that attempt to explain the world. They are often populated with fantastic creatures and heroes that inspire our imaginations with their bold imagery. Skilled writers will often reinterpret these powerful images by applying them to more modern circumstances.

For example:

"The television, that insidious beast, that Medusa which freezes a billion people to stone every night, staring fixedly, that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little." -Ray Bradbury

Things to Know:

Medusa was a creature with snakes for hair. She was said to be so hideous she could turn people to stone by looking at them.

Sirens were bird-women who lived by the sea and would use their magical voices to lure sailors to their deaths.
