Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt made a joke about his previous gaffe in describing his Chinese-born wife as Japanese during a message in Mandarin marking the Oriental New Year.
英國外交部長杰里米·亨特用普通話進(jìn)行的東方新年賀詞中，打趣了之前將中國妻子說成日本妻子一事。

In July 2018, Mr Hunt accidentally referred to his wife Lucia as Japanese during an official visit to China as Foreign Secretary.
在2018年7月的一次以外交部長身份對中國的正式訪問中，亨特不小心地把自己的中國老婆說成是日本人。

While meeting his counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing, he said: 'My wife is Japanese -- my wife is Chinese. That′s a terrible mistake to make. My wife is Chinese, and my children are half-Chinese... they have Chinese grandparents in Xian. And strong family connections in China. In fact, we came to China on holiday in April.'
在北京會(huì)見外交部長王毅的時(shí)候，他說：“我的妻子是日本人，我的老婆是中國人，真是犯了個(gè)嚴(yán)重的錯(cuò)誤。我的妻子是中國人，我的孩子們也都是半個(gè)中國人，他們的外公外婆都在西安，我在中國有很深的家庭情節(jié)，事實(shí)上我們在四月份的時(shí)候才來中國度過假。

Mr Hunt has been married to Lucia since 2009 and the couple have three children. Mrs Hunt was born in Xi'an, the capital of China's Shaanxi province.
亨特先生和露西亞在2009年結(jié)婚，兩人育有三子。亨特夫人是西安人，西安是陜西的省會(huì)。

Welcoming in the Chinese New Year, from the heart of London's China Town, Mr Hunt said in Mandarin: 'Hello everyone, I'm Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt.'
為了迎接中國的新年，亨特先生在位于倫敦中心的唐人街用中文說道：“大家好，我是外交大臣杰里米·亨特。”

Continuing in English he said: 'Chinese culture is one of the oldest and most important in the world. So in this year of the pig I want to say thank you for inventing paper, compasses, printing, rockets, spades, pottery and giving the world a most creative, hard-working and dynamic people including of course my wife who contrary to earlier misunderstandings is from China and not Japan.
接著他用英文說：“中國文化是世界上最古老，也最重要的文化之一。在豬年我想說感謝你們發(fā)明了紙、指南針、打印術(shù)、火箭和鐵鍬，你們是世界上最具有創(chuàng)造力，最勤勞，最具活力的人們，其中當(dāng)然也包括我的老婆，她來自中國而非日本，這都是之前的誤會(huì)。

'Happy New Year to all those celebrating around the world.'
“在全世界慶祝新春的朋友，新年快樂！”

He then added in Mandarin: 'Happy Year of the Pig.'
