根據阿瑟柯南道爾爵士作品改編；
——這是開篇字幕最后一段，也作為我們學習筆記的第一個知識點。算是對偉大的柯南道爾表示一點敬意吧！請大家注意“改編自……”這樣的說法是"Based on..."

2. What do you mean there's no ruddy car?
你說沒輛破車（來接我）是啥意思？
——我們都知道在美式英語里常把"damn" "darn"這樣的字眼加在名詞前以表憤怒，比如"Where is my darn watch?"（我那該死的表哪兒去了？），而在英式英語中則用"bloody"，比如"You dont' have a bloody plan!"（你們沒個倒霉計劃?。?。"Ruddy" 是"Bloody"比較委婉的說法，就像"freakin' "是另一個F開頭的字較文明的說法一樣。

以下是英文的說明：
ruddy: In the United Kingdom and some other parts of the Commonwealth, "ruddy" is also used as a mild curse (rather like "damn" or "darn") in place of the more offensive "bloody".

我的丈夫，是一個努力生活的樂觀男人……
——live life to the full，也可以說成live a full life，意思是努力生活。

4. I'll be just two minutes, mate.
我只要兩分鐘，哥們兒。
——“我只要兩分鐘”的地道口語表達不是"I need two minutes"，注意用這個"I'll be just..."的句型；另外男性之間稱呼非常要好朋友，可以說"mate", "man" 或是 "buddy"。

5. Junior Minister for Transport
運輸部副部長
——副部長這里的“副”用的是junior這個字；副經理則應該用deputy manager；副總統(tǒng)用vice president。
