Victory! Downton Abbey took home the Drama Series Cast at Screen Actor's Guild Awards, with Phyllis Logan, Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech, Amy Nuttall and Sophie McShera collecting the prize.

They had stiff competition from Mad Men and Homeland when it came to the Screen Actor's Guild awards on Sunday night.

British period drama Downton Abbey became one of the biggest surprise winners of the evening when they blew their rivals out of the water to take home the ensemble in a drama series prize.

Accepting the prize, Phyllis Logan, who plays Mrs Hughes in the much-loved show, said she was stunned that the programme had proved victorious against such strong competition.

She said: 'We were so not expecting this. Shut the French windows, honestly! We would like to thank, first of all, SAG for even bothering to consider us ... We're just so overwhelmed by it all.'

Among the other Downton Abbey stars present were Michelle Dockery, who was also nominated for a best actress in a drama series SAG award, Sophie McShera, Amy Nuttall and Allen Leech.

The 31-year-old actress wore a daring vintage Chado Ralph Rucci black satin down with sheer panels along the sides that showed off a fair amount of 'side boob'.

Although she didn't win for her individual nomination - she was bested by Homeland actress Claire Danes - Michelle was honoured alongside her cast mates for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. After their win, Michelle and Phyllis share a hug backstage as they attempt to take in the news that they won.
