《諜影重重4》由前三部《諜影重重》的編劇托尼·吉爾羅伊執(zhí)導，英文片名為“伯恩的遺產(chǎn)”（The Bourne Legacy），這將是一個全新的故事，不會再有前三部的主角杰森·伯恩。托尼·吉爾羅伊聲稱“這部電影既不是重拍，也不是續(xù)拍或前傳，沒人能代替馬特· 達蒙，新一集里將會有一個全新的英雄，開啟全新篇章，這是個獨立的計劃”，這位導演還表示“杰森·伯恩將不會出現(xiàn)在這部影片中，但他仍然活著。前三部的故事是新一集的導火線，新片中會有一個更大的格局和陰謀”。

The Bourne Legacy is an upcoming 2012 American action spy film and the fourth installment in the eponymous Bourne film series, which is based on Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne novels. It is directed by Tony Gilroy, screenwriter of the first three films. The US release date is 10 August 2012. Global release dates vary by country and territory." The film is very loosely based on The Bourne Legacy, a later Bourne novel written by Eric Van Lustbader, but like the previous two films in the franchise, it has a completely different plot from the source material. The character Jason Bourne, previously played by Matt Damon, does not appear in this film.
