Notes: 又是一個(gè)形象的口語(yǔ)句子。如果一本書(shū)讓你不想放下，一口氣翻完，該是多棒的一本書(shū)。a page turner的意思就是“引人入勝的書(shū)或者體驗(yàn)”。例如：

This novel written by a famous Japanese writer is a real page turner.
這本由一位日本著名作家創(chuàng)作的小說(shuō)非常引人入勝。

3. lay people off
裁員

We only got capital that’ll last a month maybe two. If we can’t find investors by then, we are gonna have to lay people off.
我們的資金只夠維持一到兩個(gè)月。如果那個(gè)時(shí)候我們還找不到投資人，就只能裁員了。

Notes: 美式英語(yǔ)，表示“辭退，解雇”。例如：

That company has to lay people off because of a financial problem.
因?yàn)橘Y金問(wèn)題，那家公司不得不裁員。

4. I rest my case.
我的話講完了。

Notes: ”I rest my case.”用于與人爭(zhēng)論的過(guò)程中，通常在說(shuō)完自己的看法之后加上這句。例如：

Here is no good for his health because of the bad air. We should move back to our hometown. I rest my case.
這里空氣太差，對(duì)他的身體一點(diǎn)兒好處都沒(méi)有。我們應(yīng)該搬回老家。我講完了。

5. roll your eyes
翻白眼

Sir, she just rolled her eyes at us.
長(zhǎng)官，她剛才朝我們翻了個(gè)白眼。

Notes: roll somebody’s eyes at somebody表示“朝某人翻了個(gè)白眼”，表明態(tài)度上的不尊重，有種不耐煩的感覺(jué)。例如：

I rolled my eyes at them because they just gossiped about me.
我朝他們翻了個(gè)白眼，因?yàn)樗麄儎偛旁谡f(shuō)我的閑話。

6. run into
偶遇

I’m so glad that we ran into you.
遇到你我們真開(kāi)心。

Notes: run into somebody表示“偶然遇到什么人”。例如：

I ran into a former colleague in the shopping mall today.
我今天在購(gòu)物中心遇見(jiàn)了以前的同事。
