Notes：做父母的總要為孩子考慮很多。單詞“concern”有名詞和動詞兩種詞性，在這里的意思是“使某人憂慮，擔心”。短語“as far as I’m concerned”的意思是“就我而言”。例如：
The air quality here do concern me.
這里的空氣質(zhì)量的確讓我很擔心。
As far as I’m concerned, the best thing is travel.
對我而言，最好的事莫過于旅行。
2. I love messing with that kid. I’m such a bully. It’s super unhealthy.
我就喜歡捉弄那孩子。我總愛欺負人，真變態(tài)。
Notes: 這位好友總是喜歡捉弄Katie那想當富豪的兒子。短語“mess with somebody”在這里的意思是“惹某人，干擾某人”。例如：
Don’t mess with me! Leave me alone!
別惹我！讓我自己待著。
3. To be clear, you’re selling out your beliefs to befriend a woman you can’t stand to get Anna-Kat invited to a party with girls you don’t approve of?
讓我說清楚一點兒，你背叛你的信仰去和你討厭的人做朋友就是為了讓安娜能和你并不喜歡的孩子一起參加派對？
Notes：Katie為了讓Anna收到生日派對邀請不惜自我犧牲，放下身段去和自己討厭的媽媽做朋友。她的丈夫并不贊同這一行為?！?strong>sell out”本意是“賣光”，在這里指“出賣，背叛”，“sell somebody out”指“出賣某人”。短語“approve of”的意義豐富，“贊成，滿意，喜歡，認可等”。例句如下：
Their lemonade has sold out.
她們的檸檬水都賣光了。
He would never sell a friend out.
他絕不會出賣朋友。
I approve of your plan. Just do it.
我贊成你的計劃。去做吧！
My parents don’t approve o
f my new friend.
我爸媽不喜歡我的新朋友。
4. I’m an outcast. Anna-Kat is an outcast.
我被排擠了，我的女兒也被排擠了。
- Now I put myself out there and I’m back in high school dealing with Holly Platt.
現(xiàn)在我這么努力，就像高中時對付霍利·普萊特那樣。
- She iced you out?
她也排擠你了？
- No. Other way around. I’m super cool in high school.

Notes：Katie背叛自己的信仰去主動結(jié)交并不喜歡的媽媽們，結(jié)果Anna還是沒有收到生日聚會的邀請。Katie非常沮喪，向朋友吐槽。短語“put myself out”表示“作出努力”；當一個人不那么熱切地融入其他人時就很容易遭到排擠，被排擠要如何表達？“outcast”作為名詞有“被驅(qū)逐的人”之意，短語“ice somebody out”指“不理睬，排斥某人”。例如：
I put myself out there and try to be their friends.
我努力和他們成為朋友。
They iced him out. So he is an outcast here, just like me.
他們排擠他。他和我一樣在這里格格不入。
5. Maybe I jumped the gun about Westport.
也許我對西港下的結(jié)論太早了。
Notes：短語“jump the gun”很形象啊！賽跑時，槍沒響就開跑，引申下就是“操之過急，過早下結(jié)論，過早行動”。例如：
Please don’t jump the gun before you really get to know someone.
在你還沒有真正了解某個人時不要過早下結(jié)論。
