"It's — it's true ?" faltered Professor McGonagall. "After all he's done… all the people he's killed… he couldn't kill a little boy? It's just astounding… of all the things to stop him… but how in the name of heaven did Harry survive?"

"We can only guess," said Dumbledore. "We may never know."

Professor McGonagall pulled out a lace handkerchief and dabbed at her eyes beneath her spectacles. Dumbledore gave a great sniff as he took a golden watch from his pocket and examined it. It was a very odd watch. It had twelve hands but no numbers; instead, little planets were moving around the edge. It must have made sense to Dumbledore, though, because he put it back in his pocket and said, "Hagrid's late. I suppose it was he who told you I'd be here, by the way?"

"Yes," said Professor McGonagall. "And I don't suppose you're going to tell me why you're here, of all places?"

"I've come to bring Harry to his aunt and uncle. They're the only family he has left now."

"You don't mean - you can't mean the people who live here ?" cried Professor McGonagall, jumping to her feet and pointing at number four. "Dumbledore — you can't. I've been watching them all day. You couldn't find two people who are less like us. And they've got this son — I saw him kicking his mother all the way?up the street, screaming for sweets. Harry Potter come and live here!"

"It's the best place for him," said Dumbledore firmly. "His aunt and uncle will be able to explain everything to him when he's older. I've written them a letter."

“是的，”麥格教授說，“可去的地方多了，您為什么偏偏要到這里來呢？ 我想，您大概不會告訴我吧？”　　

“我是來接哈利，把他送到他姨媽姨父家的?，F(xiàn)在他們是他惟一的親人了?！薄　?/p>

“您不會是指——您不可能是指住在這里的那家人吧？”她噌地跳起來，指著四號那一家?！班嚥祭唷刹荒苓@么做。我觀察他們一整天了。您找不到比他們更不像你我這樣的人了。他們還有一個兒子——我看見他在大街上一路用腳踢他母親，吵著要糖吃。要哈利·波特住在這里？！”

主要知識點：

1.???in the name of heaven：

同樣的意思是in the name of God，其實還有另一種表達法，也就是：in God's / Heaven's name。
表示的是一種驚訝的語氣，諸如“天啊~上帝啊~”之類的。
或者就是在文中的這種表達“究竟，到底”的意思，也就是純粹用來加強語氣滴。
比如我們說“What in heaven's name was it?”，那就是在說“老天！這究竟是嘛東西??？”

2.???of all places：

有的時候一個詞組就會很奇怪，每個詞都認識但是真的要說啥意思，卻說不上來?？赡躱f all places就是這樣的一個詞組了吧。
它其實表達的也是一種強調(diào)，有“偏偏，尤其”的意思。比如說：
And why did you choose Iceland for a holiday, of all places? （你怎么選擇了去冰島度假？←明明有那么多地方偏去冰島干嗎？）
其實of all的這個形式很多時候都是表示強調(diào)的。比如of all people， of all things等。幾乎都緊跟著所要強調(diào)的關(guān)鍵字；跟著人就用of all people，跟著物就用of all things，比如說：
You shouldn't have done it. You of all people should know that. （你不該做出這樣的事情的，尤其是你應(yīng)該明白的。）
She did not want to quarrel with Maria today, of all days. （她并不想和瑪利亞起沖突的，特別是今天。）

3. jump to one's feet:

表示的是“一躍而起”的意思，其實是包含著一種“驚訝得跳起來”的感覺在。
比如在文中，便是表達出麥格教授對于鄧布利多要將哈里送去德思禮家表示相當(dāng)?shù)捏@訝。

4. all the way:

all the way的意思挺簡單的。
一來可以表示“一路上”，比如說：
We walked all the way. （我們一路上都是步行。）
或者的話可以表示“完全，毫無保留”，比如說：
I'm with you all the way. （我完全贊成你。）
