President Barack Obama has hit the campaign trail for US mid-term elections, less than two weeks away.

On Thursday, he stumped for Washington Senator Patty Murray, a candidate crucial to his Democrats' chances of keeping control of the Senate.

Obama will try to bolster both Murray and Barbara Boxer of California with rallies and fund-raisers over the next two days. He's on a four-day trip, his longest campaign swing as president.

Polls have shown an erosion in the slight leads held by the two Democratic candidates to razor-thin margins ahead of the November 2nd elections.

Obama's popularity and that of his fellow Democrats have suffered amid discontent over the sluggish economy. The president is seeking to rev up core Democratic voters.

Barack Obama, US President, said, "The journey we began together was not about putting a president in the White House, it was about building a movement for change that endures. It's about realizing that in America, anything is possible if we are willing to work for it, if we are willing to fight for it.I need you to knock on doors and make phone calls, talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. And if you do that, I promise you, not only will we win the election, but we will restore the dream for the next generation."
