吉普賽人是埃及人的簡(jiǎn)稱，但他們并不是埃及人

影視作品里常出現(xiàn)的吉普賽人?Gypsy?其實(shí)是對(duì)埃及人?Egyptians?的簡(jiǎn)稱，但吉普賽人和埃及并沒有關(guān)系，他們實(shí)際上是從印度北部來的。

另外，“吉普賽”這個(gè)稱呼其實(shí)是個(gè)蔑稱，現(xiàn)在西方國(guó)家為了表示尊重一般都不會(huì)這么叫了，而是叫他們“羅姆人”?Romani people

Gypsy?is a short name for “Egyptian”.?Gypsies were originally thought to have come from Egypt and some of the earliest references to them in English, dating back to the 16th century, call them "Egyptians".?They were accompanied by a legend that they had been expelled from Egypt for trying to hide Jesus.?A genetic analysis of 13 Gypsy groups around Europe, published in?Current Biology?journal, has revealed that the arrival on the continent of their forebears from northern India happened far earlier than was thought, about 1,500 years ago.
埃及人又被簡(jiǎn)稱為“Gypsy”（吉普賽人）。吉普賽人最早被認(rèn)為是從埃及來的，英語中一些早至十六世紀(jì)的紀(jì)錄把他們稱為“埃及人”。與他們一同到來的還有一個(gè)傳說，說他們是因?yàn)槠髨D藏起耶穌才被從埃及放逐的。但《當(dāng)代生物學(xué)》期刊上一篇涉及13個(gè)吉普賽族群的遺傳學(xué)分析則顯示他們的祖先是在約1500年前從印度北部來到歐洲的，這比大家想的要早得多。
