Part ⅠWritingAidEducation in China

Each year, college students, encouraged to aid students in the povertystricken areas, volunteer themselves in poor villages for a year and try to improve education in poor areas.

Aideducation has been beneficial in two aspects. On the one hand, college volunteers are really devoted to the cause. They have opened the eyes of students in underdeveloped regions to the outside world by bringing them new knowledge and thoughts. As a result, they are extremely wellreceived by the children there. On the other hand, college students have received a rigorous training by adapting to the harsh living conditions. They are enjoying the appreciation and nodistance friendship from the children. What’s more, they are greatly inspired by the moving and tireless spirit of the children.

In my opinion, China’s educational development can’t be isolated from each individual and we college students should take the lead in response to the appeal for offering aid to children in poor areas.

Part ⅡReading Comprehension (Skimming and Scanning)

As a result, the sea has shrunk to half its original size…

But many countries continue to build massive dams and irrigation systems, even though such projects can create more problems than they fix.

Growing populations will worsen problems with water… But almost everyone contributes to water pollution.

本題解題依據(jù)為第十一段最后一句話…70 percent of the pollutants could be traced to household waste (百分之七十的污染物源于家庭廢棄物),據(jù)此,本題之意與原文之義不合。

But Americans could face serious water shortages, too, especially in areas that rely on groundwater,

8.? onethird.?

9. glaciers and? ice caps.?

10. water pollution.

Part ⅣReading Comprehension (Reading in Depth)Section A

Section B

而選擇正確答案應根據(jù)最后一句話“What it does is to offer help in applying for a job.”B項正確。

解答該題只需正確理解第二段第二行“The growth and apparent success of such a specialized service is, of course, a reflection on the current high levels of unemployment.”(這種特別服務的出現(xiàn)和成功反映了當今的高失業(yè)率。)

最關鍵的提示句應該是第三段第三句“The letter was really just for openers, it was explained, everything else could and should be saved for the interview.”

文章第四段第一行中的“as you moved up the ladder”對應了題干中的“as one went on to apply for more important jobs”。因此,隨后的內(nèi)容即為答案:“Something slightly more sophisticated was called for. The advice then was to put something in the letter which would distinguish you from the rest.”A項正確。

學生只要正確理解最后一段,就可做出正確選擇,最后一句實際上是一強調(diào)句型:“…it is increasing number of applicants with university education at all points in the process of engaging staff that has led to the greater importance of the curriculum vitae.” “it is”后的內(nèi)容也即是B項的內(nèi)容,所以B項正確。

依據(jù)第一段最后一句話“…, the end result of rent control is a shortage of apartments in the city.”

依據(jù)第一段第四句“However, the critics say that after a long time, rent control may have negative effects.”

解答該題只要準確理解第二段的含義,尤其從第三行開始“However, if the minimum is high,…Thus, critics claim, an increase in the minimum wage may cause unemployment.”

依據(jù)第四段第二行“The predictions may be correct only if ‘other things are equal’.”
