To celebrate the arrival of the year of the rabbit, a Chinese spring festival evening was hosted in Germany last Saturday by the Leipzig Union of Chinese Students and Scholars at the Gewandhaus Concert Hall. It was the first time such a celebration had ever been held at the site.
The main themes for the evening were music, culture and youth. The actors who performed were not only the Chinese students in Germany, but also some foreign students interested in Chinese culture.
The most unforgettable performance came from some little overseas Chinese children. Although they grew up in Germany, they have great enthusiasm for Chinese culture.
Meanwhile, students from Leipzig Conservatory of Music played Vivaldi's most popular classical work, "The Four Seasons."
Gabriele Goldfuss, Director of Int’l Affairs Office, Leipzig, said, "The performance is really great! I love it so much. I wish everyone a great year of the rabbit."
This spring festival evening was?sponsored?by the Chinese embassy in Germany, the Confucius Institute in Leipzig, and the University of Leipzig.

The Four Seasons: (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. Composed in 1723, The Four Seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work, and is among the most popular pieces of Baroque music. The texture of each concerto is varied, each resembling its respective season. For example, "Winter" is peppered with silvery staccato notes from the high strings, calling to mind icy rain, whereas "Summer" evokes?a thunderstorm in its final movement, which is why the movement is often dubbed "Storm."
