【學(xué)習(xí)筆記】

Corduroy is a bear who once lived in the toy department of a big store.Day after day he waited with all the other animals and dolls for somebody to come along and take him home.
The store was always filled with shoppers buying all sorts of things,but no one ever seemed to want? a small bear in green overalls.
小熊可杜羅以前住在大百貨商店的玩具柜臺里，和其他動物、洋娃娃們一樣，每天他都期待著有人能把他帶回家。
商場里人來人往的顧客買著各種商品，但是卻沒有一個人愿意買一只穿著綠外套的小熊

小編注：“Corduroy”這個詞直譯過來就是燈芯絨的意思，可作者為什么給小熊起了這么一個名字呢？是因為小熊穿了一條綠色的燈芯絨背帶褲，還是別的什么原因，這就不得而知了。千萬別覺得小編羅嗦，又提到學(xué)會直接用“物”作主語了。鞏固鞏固再鞏固，只有這樣我們才能形成習(xí)慣，順口而出The store was always filled with shoppers...

Then one morning a little girl stopped and looked straight into Corduroy's bright eyes.
"Oh,Mommy!"She said."Look!There's the very bear I've always wanted."
"Not today,dear."Her mother sighed."I've spent too much already.Besides,he doesn't look new.He's lost the button to one of his shoulder straps."
Corduroy watched them sadly as they walked away.
"I didn't know I'd lost a button,"he said to himself."Tonight I'll go and see if I can find it."
一天清晨，一個小女孩在小熊面前停住了，她盯著小熊的大眼睛。
“喔！媽媽！快看！這兒有一只我一直想要的小熊。
”她媽媽嘆息道：“寶貝，今天就算了。我已經(jīng)花了很多錢了。再說，它看起來挺舊的，一條背帶上還丟了紐扣?！?br> 小熊傷心的看著母女倆走遠(yuǎn)。
他自言自語道：“我都不知道我丟了一只紐扣，今天晚上我得出去找找看?！?

小編注：被人指出缺點的滋味真不好受，不過既然渴望被人愛，那總得做出一點努力吧！不如晚上就去找找看。喜歡這個女孩和布偶的簡單故事，因為更好像是看到了自己渴望被人愛的影子。我們的人生是不是一直都在不停的尋找那只紐扣呢？

Late that evening,when all the shoppers had gone and the doors were shut and locked,Corduroy climbed carefully down from his shelf and began searching everywhere on the floor for his lost button.
Suddenly he felt the floor moving under him!Quite by accident he had stepped onto an escalstor--and up he went!
"Could this be a mountain?"he wondered."I think I've always wanted to climb a mountain."
He stepped off the escalator as it reached the next floor,and there, before his eyes,was a most amazing sight--tables and chairs and lamps and sofas,and rows and rows of beds.
"This must be a palace!"Corduroy gasped."I guess I've always wanted to live in a palace."
晚上，所有的售貨員都回家了，商店的大門也鎖得緊緊的，小熊小心的從柜臺上爬下來，在地板上到處尋找丟失的紐扣。
突然，他感覺地板在他下面移動，原來剛好他踩到了向上開的電梯上。
“這也許是山吧？我剛好一直想爬山呢！”小熊猜想道。
他沿著電梯拾階而上，等到了下一階電梯上，眼前突然一亮：桌子、椅子、臺燈、沙發(fā)以及一排排的床。
“這一定是宮殿，我可是一直想住在宮殿里呢！”小熊喘息道。

小編注：couch指供晝夜坐臥，似床一樣的長沙發(fā)或睡椅。sofa指有扶手和靠背，可供多人坐或一個人睡的長沙發(fā)，也泛指沙發(fā)。如果你問一個中國學(xué)生單人沙發(fā)怎么說，他/她一定會說sofa， 殊不知sofa在英文中是長沙發(fā),，單人沙發(fā)叫做armchair。如果是嵌入墻壁的衣柜叫closet，單獨的大衣柜叫做armoire。茶幾不是tea table, 正確的是coffee table。
