長江中下游平原是第三大平原，東西長約1000千米，南北寬100-400千米，總面積約20萬平方千米。部分地區(qū)的海拔低于5米，總體上低于華北平原。是由長江沖積下來的泥沙堆積而成，包括湖南、湖北、安徽、江西、江蘇、浙江等省。這里是水稻、蠶桑、柑橘、淡水魚類的主產(chǎn)區(qū)，長江中下游平原盛產(chǎn)水稻、油菜籽和蠶豆，千百年來被譽(yù)為中國的"魚米之鄉(xiāng)"。

The Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River Plain， the third largest plain, is about 1,000 km long from east to west and 100-400 km wide from north to south, with a total area of about 200,000 square kilometers. With part of it lower than 5 meters in elevation, it is generally lower than the North China Plain. It is formed by alluvial of the Yangtze River and lies in Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
