The Meaning of Division

除法的意義

We use division when we want to separate objects into groups of equal size.

當(dāng)我們想把物體分成相等的大小時(shí)，我們可以用除法。

The answer to a division problem is the quotient.

對(duì)于除法問(wèn)題的答案叫做商數(shù)。

(1) The lunchroom can seat 72 people at the same time. There are 12 tables. Each table seats?the same number of people. How many people can sit at each table?

(1) 快餐店一次能容納72個(gè)人。店里有12張桌子，每張桌子所坐人數(shù)相同，請(qǐng)問(wèn)一張桌子能坐多少個(gè)人？

基本的數(shù)學(xué)乘除法的讀法：

3×5 = 15? Three multiplied by five makes fifteen.或Three times five equals fifteen .

15÷3＝5? Fifteen divided by three equals five.注意fifteen 后千萬(wàn)不可加上is，念成is divided by。
