相關背景知識

在英語國家，工作單位對各部門的職責分工非常明確。員工各司其職，互不越位。如果在工作中員工的行為超越了自己的工作職責范圍而受到人身傷害，那怕是在為公司做好事，公司也可以不負責任的。在這一聽力練習中的員工因為站到桌子上去修電燈而摔下來受了傷，但按照公司勞動守則規(guī)定，修電燈并不是他的職責，他因此受了傷，公司本來是可以不管的。

英語中用來表司職責，義務的單詞和詞組主要有

1．To be under (an) obligation
“負有……的義務，有義務做……”，比如：we are under no obligation to give him what he wants. 我們沒有他要什么就給什么的義務。

2．To be obliged to do sth
“必須（做某事）”，比如：Parents are obliged to send their children to school. 家長必須讓他們的子女去上學。

3．Have to do sth
“不得不……”，表示有外部客觀因素導致的職責和義務，比如：the train leaves at six o’clock, so I have to get up early tomorrow. 火車明天六點開，所以明天我只好早起。

4．Must
“應該，必須”，表示說話人主觀上認為有義務這樣做。比如：I must clean my teeth everyday. 我應該每天刷牙。

5．To be required to do sth.
“ 被要求做……，必須做……”，比如：All passengers are required to show their tickets. 所有乘客都必須出示車票。
