Asia's best attended book fair is the Hong Kong Book Fair. Over its 21-year history, the event has become a cultural phenomenon. About one million people went to the last year's Book Fair. Now let's take a look what's new at this year's fair.

The theme for this year's book fair is "Reading the World, Reading as Self-Discovery". And with over 520 exhibitors participating, visitors can do just that. Along with the books, there will be around 300 activities held throughout the 7-day event, which opened on Wednesday.

As with other book fairs held recently, one of the big trends is to give visitors a digital reading experience.

Among the exhibitors, China Publishing Group has attracted a lot of attention. 2011 is the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and also the 100th anniversary of 1911 revolution. So, China Publishing Group brought along lots of excellent books for people to learn more about the history of the CPC and what the Party has achieved during its 90 years. At the same time, they have books to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1911 revolution.

2012 will mark the 100th anniversary of Chung Hwa Book Company. The publisher has played an important role in China's publishing history. Combining their strength, China Publishing Group has held several cultural salons together with Chung Hwa Book Company. Their main discussions are focusing on how to inherit the Chinese culture and enlarge its effect while further developing digital reading technology.
