S: As we know, you started being a DJ at the age of 15. What was it like?

P: I just want to be involved in music, and I couldn't really play any instruments. Every kid wanted to be in a band. I just saw a DJ one day and I thought I could do that. So it started from that. It's very humble. Nobody was famous for being a DJ then, but at that stage we were just doing parties and weddings and different things. And eventually, after a couple of years, I got started running my own club. That was the best thing I ever did. I was very young still, but I ran my own night. And you started to get crowd, you started to get reputation, and people told other people that you worked as a DJ. It just went from there. Those were very early days. It was pre-acid house thing, and no one has thought by then of doing that in Shanghai or Tokyo, or Sydney, or Brazil. You know not that long ago, like ten years ago, traveling to Manchester would seem to be a long way from London. Now I go to shanghai for weekends, so we can say that the world has changed.

S: Incredible. And your first experience is a wedding. How was that like?

P: I mean I started it by doing weddings. But I don't do many weddings now.

S: What kind of weddings?

P: I just did normal ones. And I found some famous weddings as well. Now I mean, when you are DJ, back in where I stay, early 80es or late 70es, anybody would book people. So anyway you could play your music and do your thing. But then I quit it very quickly, because I think doing weddings is not a good thing. Because they want me to do this, but I want to do that.

S: Do you personally play any musical instruments? ?

P: I am kind of teaching myself back to piano. I learned piano and then I blunted it when I was a kid at school. And I wish I could really have done it. I mean I would recommend to any kid now that things will finally work out . It is a real regret that I didn't follow up on it. Because I realize now how much it could have helped me. So you know it's never too late.
