A flood-damaged section of railway on China's southernmost island province of Hainan has resumed operating. The section between Lingshui and Sanya was suspended at one pm local time on Saturday. Meanwhile more than 50 villages in Hainan have been seriously affected by the flooding, with many evacuations being reported. Seven schools in the provincial capital of Haikou have suspended their classes. Local governments say relief supplies have been transported to the affected areas. According to the provincial weather forecast, rains are expected to continue battering the province over the next two days.
