Altan，這是一支被譽(yù)為90年代最杰出的一支愛爾蘭傳統(tǒng)民謠樂團(tuán)。

從1983 年成立以來 ( 當(dāng)時(shí)還未正式以 Altan 為團(tuán)名 ) 至今共出版了8 張專輯，為他們贏得了許多音樂獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)，其中包括了三座 NAIRD Award (National Assoication of Independent Record Dealers 美國獨(dú)立音樂品牌協(xié)會(huì) ), 英國民謠 音樂雜志 (Folk and Roots) 及英國流行樂雜志 (Q Magnize) 的年度最佳民謠專輯 等多項(xiàng)大獎(jiǎng)。

正當(dāng)無數(shù)的榮耀與寵愛集于一身時(shí)，其間 Altan 卻也遭遇了團(tuán)長Frankie Kennedy 與癌癥博斗而終至告亡的悲劇。每當(dāng)我耹聽他們的 CD 時(shí), 總?cè)滩蛔?huì)想象 著纏繞著這個(gè)樂團(tuán)的愛情, 友誼種種悲喜, 化為在音樂表現(xiàn)上的激烈生命, 然后我便 會(huì)不自覺地跟著他們的起伏, 敲打起什么的來著。

Altan 一向標(biāo)榜著Donegal 的音樂風(fēng)格。也正是他們大多數(shù)團(tuán)員來自的母土。 Donegal County 是位在愛爾蘭共和國本島最西北的一個(gè)縣。由于這片土地西濱大西 洋， 東椄北愛爾蘭 ( 也就是英國的領(lǐng)土 )。只是在南邊部份短短鄰了十來哩的另個(gè)愛爾蘭省份 ( Co.Leitrim)。在傳統(tǒng)的地理分野上，和北愛同是屬于 Ulster 的范圍 。因此在感覺上，好似一種 "化外之民" 的天然混成。也因而保留了傳統(tǒng) Gaelteacht 語言的使用與咯異于其它愛爾蘭地區(qū)的北方音樂特色。

Altan 的創(chuàng)團(tuán)成員是來自北愛首府 Belfast 的青年長笛手 Frankie Kennedy 和 生長于 Gweedore, Co. Donegal 的 Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh。后來我常常會(huì)想象這倆個(gè)人初次相遇，那會(huì)是怎么樣的一個(gè)場景，彷佛一切都已注定：在一個(gè)自然的音樂社交場合上。Frankie 初見 Mairead 這位小提琴手的飄揚(yáng)長發(fā)與美麗歌聲，使他深深 地墜入了情網(wǎng)的，是這位長發(fā)的美麗女子，是她的音樂。然后要一起牽手走這一輩子 的音樂相伴的路。?
