X-Japan是日本著名的古典搖滾樂(lè)隊(duì)。樂(lè)隊(duì)成立于1982年，1989年成為日本最紅的樂(lè)隊(duì)，以獨(dú)立廠牌的出身獲得主流音樂(lè)的認(rèn)同和輝煌。1997年4月因主唱TOSHI以音樂(lè)取向不同的理由退出，在無(wú)法找到后繼主音的情況下，9月22日樂(lè)隊(duì)被迫宣布解散，次年由于吉他手hide的意外離世，樂(lè)隊(duì)的復(fù)活更捉摸不定。2007年，樂(lè)隊(duì)的再結(jié)成被Yoshiki提了出來(lái)。2007年至2009年樂(lè)隊(duì)在亞洲開展了巡演，并于2010年9月至10月進(jìn)行了首次北美巡演，人氣不減當(dāng)年。樂(lè)隊(duì)計(jì)劃于2011年發(fā)行十四年來(lái)的首張錄音室專輯。直至2010年，樂(lè)隊(duì)共發(fā)行超過(guò)三千萬(wàn)張專輯、兩百萬(wàn)張錄像帶。

X作為名字，是因X字母有著“無(wú)限的可能性”的意味。組成當(dāng)初有著認(rèn)為“有正式團(tuán)名之前先使用假名”、“在比賽宣傳冊(cè)上一個(gè)字會(huì)更引人注意”這樣的感覺(jué)。之后，進(jìn)軍世界時(shí)為了與美國(guó)同名樂(lè)隊(duì)加以區(qū)別，在1992年8月HEATH入團(tuán)的同時(shí)改名為X JAPAN。
