中國(guó)政府一直高度重視環(huán)境保護(hù)，上世紀(jì)80年代把保護(hù)環(huán)境確定為基本國(guó)策，90年代初把可持續(xù)發(fā)展確立為國(guó)家戰(zhàn)略，進(jìn)入新世紀(jì)，我們提出了要堅(jiān)持以人為本，落實(shí)科學(xué)發(fā)展觀，實(shí)現(xiàn)經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)與環(huán)境、人與自然的協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展。

我們要在發(fā)展中保護(hù)環(huán)境，目前已進(jìn)行了一些積極探索：一是加強(qiáng)環(huán)境法制，建立一系列規(guī)章、標(biāo)準(zhǔn)組成的法律體系，同時(shí)不斷嚴(yán)格環(huán)境執(zhí)法。二是加大環(huán)境教育，鼓勵(lì)公眾參與和社會(huì)監(jiān)督。通過上述措施，中國(guó)在經(jīng)濟(jì)快速增長(zhǎng)的情況下，污染加劇的趨勢(shì)得到初步遏制。
