Hard as it may be

as表示雖然,盡管 等時(shí),引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句,常用倒裝語序,模式為:
adj. /adv. / n.+as +主語+謂語+主句。

【例】Hard as it may be to believe, there are many unwanted, homeless, abused dachshunds in this country.
盡管很難相信，但在這個(gè)國(guó)家有很多無家可歸、被人遺棄的達(dá)克斯獵狗。

numerically

【釋】adv. 用數(shù)字表示（有道）

【例】Books are then arranged numerically , and then alphabetically by author’s last name,resulting in a library organized by subject.（句酷）
之后按照號(hào)（數(shù)字）進(jìn)行排序，再按照作者姓的字母排序。這樣，整個(gè)圖書館的書便按照科目有序地組織起來了。

straighten up

【釋】使整齊, 整理 闡明 挺直

【例】You should straighten up your room before going out.
出門前你應(yīng)該把房間收拾整齊。

swirling vortex of entropy

【釋】swirling n. 漩渦；渦流 adj. 打旋的。vortex渦流；漩渦；（動(dòng)亂，爭(zhēng)論等的）中心；旋風(fēng)。entropy熵，物理學(xué)上指熱能除以溫度所得的商，標(biāo)志熱量轉(zhuǎn)化為功的程度。被社會(huì)科學(xué)用以借喻人類社會(huì)某些狀態(tài)的程度。這里的意思是社會(huì)惡化的漩渦中心。（在這里Sheldon形容Penny的房間很亂）
