demand與 require的用法辨析?

一、兩者在含義上的區(qū)別1. 有時(shí)可互換。如：They demand [require] my appearance. 他們要求我到場(chǎng)。2. 兩者的細(xì)微區(qū)別是：demand 通常指堅(jiān)持其應(yīng)該有或必要的東西，暗示要求者有權(quán)這樣做，常有命令之意；require 通常指按照法律、規(guī)章、規(guī)定、慣例、環(huán)境等提出要求，其客觀性較強(qiáng)。比較：The policeman demanded his name and address. 警察要他說(shuō)出他的名字和地址。We require warm clothing for the winter. 我們需要過(guò)冬的暖和的衣服。注：用于事物時(shí)，兩者都表示“需要”，有時(shí)可換用，其區(qū)別仍然是require ，有時(shí)可換用，其區(qū)別仍然是的客觀性較強(qiáng)。如：The letter demands [requires] an immediate answer. 這信要求立即答復(fù)。The court requires the attendance of witnesses. 法庭要求證人出庭。

二、兩者在結(jié)構(gòu)上的區(qū)別1. 兩者后都可接 that從句，但從句謂語(yǔ)通常用“should＋動(dòng)詞原形”這樣的虛擬語(yǔ)氣形式。如：He demands [requires] that I (should) leave at once. 他要求我馬上離開(kāi)。His wife demanded [required] that I should tell him everything. 他的妻子要求我把一切都告訴他。他的妻子要求我把一切都告訴他。The boss required [demanded] that everyone (should) attend the meeting. 老板要求人人參加會(huì)議。(D22)2. demand 后可接不定式，但不接動(dòng)名詞；而require表示“要求“”時(shí)，其后既不接不定式也不接動(dòng)名詞。如：She demanded to see the manager. 她要求見(jiàn)經(jīng)理。He demanded to be told everything. 他要求把一切都告訴他。注意：require 表示“表示T face=宋體>需要”時(shí)，其后可接動(dòng)名詞(用主動(dòng)表被動(dòng))或不定式(用被動(dòng)形式表被動(dòng))。如：The room requires cleaning [to be cleaned]. 房間需要打掃了。這機(jī)器需要修理了。3. demand 不接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)，但 require 后可接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)。如：They required him to keep it a secret. 他們要求他對(duì)這事保密。All the members are required to attend the meeting. 全部會(huì)員均要求出席會(huì)議。注：demand 后不接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)，但 demand of 后可接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)。如：他們要求她同他們一起去。誤：They demanded her to go with them. 正：They demanded of her to go with them. 比較：They demanded that she should go with them.4. 表示“向某人要求某物”，可用 demand sth of [from] sb。如： AN>He demanded too high a price of me. 他向我要價(jià)太高。He demanded an apology from the boss. 他要求老板道歉。require 有時(shí)也這樣用，但更多是其被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)后接 of sb。如：
What do you require of me? 你要求我做什么?
I have done everything that was required of me. 一切要我做的事情我都已經(jīng)做好了。
