B: He’s right. It’s not you, but people don’t go for the same jokes any longer. And your comedy routine has become old hat.
A: Yes, it feels like I’m singing the same old song every time. I need a change.
B: Yes, well that song is enough to put someone to sleep.

A: James真是個(gè)讓人掃興的人,就算我的笑話一點(diǎn)也不逗樂,他也不一定非得說出來呀。
B: 他這樣做沒有什么不對(duì),誰能總聽同樣的笑話。你那套搞笑的保留節(jié)目太過時(shí)了。

語言點(diǎn)精講

wet blanket: 給別人潑冷水的人,掃興的人。通常不用來形容自己。
point out: 指出。
go for: 選擇,寧要。
routine: 經(jīng)常表演的固定節(jié)目。
old hat: 老式的,陳舊的,過時(shí)的。
sing the same old song: 形容某事經(jīng)常被重復(fù),以至于無聊。
enough to put someone to sleep: 形容某事極其無聊,足以使人入睡。
