Angelina is known the world over as one of Hollywood's most glamorous women, having catapulted to global celebrity status as tomb raider Lara Croft.

But Angelina Jolie today took on a far more important cause as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N.'s refugee agency.

On Saturday, the actress was in Iraq meeting with leaders about the plight of an estimated 50,000 refugees who fled to escape violence in Syria.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zebari told Angelina that an estimated 21,000 Syrian refugees are living in Iraq's western Anbar province.

Angelina said that with winter approaching, she is concerned about the plight of hundreds of thousands of Syrians forced to flee their homes. And?a government statement said Angelina on Saturday urged Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to ensure the refugees have enough supplies.
