The top-seeded Serb was in exceptional form as he won 6-1, 6-2 and set up a last four meeting against Florian Mayer.
In a match that lasted less than an hour, Djokovic sent down 12 aces and hardly gave his Austrian opponent a chance.
A win for Djokovic in Beijing will boost his hopes of overtaking Roger Federer as world number one.
Mayer ends run of China's Zhang Ze
China’s Zhang Ze was looking to continue his storybook run Zhang, who recorded a personal best in reaching the quarter’s was taking on German Florian Mayer for a spot in the semi’s.
Zhang dumped France’s Richard Gasquet to reach this point but the 22-year old Chinese, ranked 165th in the world, found himself in tough against the German veteran. Mayer forced a number of unforced errors from the Chinese as Mayer took set one 6-3.

In other quarter-final play from Friday, Spaniard Feliciano Lopez beat Sam Querrey of the United States in three sets. He will meet third seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi’s. He got past through Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets.
Top women’s seed Victoria Azarenka secured a comfortable 6-2, 6-0 win over Romina Oprandi of Switzerland to reach the round of four. She will meet 9th-seeded Marion Bartoli, who defeat Carla Suarez Navarro in three sets, for a place in the final.
