A: I can’t believe what Steven did! He came to my dinner party wearing jeans, and started some conversations that were quite uncultured.
B: I know his comments were out of line, but give him a chance He just moved here from countryside. I’m sure he is just a diamond in the rough. When he gets used to being with us, he’ll become more polished.

A: 我簡直不敢相信Steven做的事兒!他穿著牛仔褲來參加我的晚宴,談起話來那么沒文化。
B: 我知道他的品頭論足很出格,但是給他個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)吧。他剛從鄉(xiāng)下搬到這里,我想他還是能變好的。他和我們相處慣了,就會(huì)變得有禮貌了。

語言點(diǎn)精講

uncultured: 沒有教養(yǎng)的。
out of line: 形容人說話或行為不符合普遍接受的行為標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。
a diamond in the rough: 未經(jīng)雕鑿的原鉆。形容某人具備好的特質(zhì),但是還不夠老練。
polished: 有教養(yǎng)的。
