2012 China’s CCTV Sports Personality Award Ceremony was held on Saturday at the country’s national stadium. 11 awards were announced and the 2012 Olympic swimming gold medallists Sun Yang and Ye Shiwen were the biggest winners at the stadium at the night.

Sun beat other four nominees including London Olympic gold medallists Zhang Jike, Lin Dan, Lei Sheng and Zou Shiming, to claim the honor of the Best Male Athlete for the second year.

The 17-year-old Ye snatched the Best Female Athlete title, outshining Jiao Liuyang, Wu Minxia, Yi Siling and Xu Lijia. But Ye was absent from the ceremony as she is competing in Australia.

Yao Zhengjie, head coach of the national swimming team, won the Best Coach Award as his team grabbed five golds in the London Games.

Race-walker Chen Ding was named the Best Rookie.Yao Ming received a special award from the Judging Committee.
