Heavy snow has blanketed large areas of east China. Parts of China’s Anhui and Jiangsu provinces have been hit by snowstorms. The snow has been accompanied by a sharp drop in temperature of up to 10 degrees Celsius.

Authorities have issued warnings for a serious cold front. Primary and middle schools in Wuxi, Zhenjiang and many other cities have postponed the first day of classes following Spring Festival. Jiangsu Province's capital city, Nanjing, has closed its airport. Weather forecasts say temperatures will rise by the end of this month.
