I was in my late 20s at that time. There was an old saying in China that a man should be well established at the age of thirty. But I was not able to live independently. What should I do? Besides reading books, watching movies and writing scripts at home, I did all of the housework for conscience sake: preparing for the meals, taking care of our child and cleaning up the house. I still remember that in those days I would sit with my little son on our doorstep every evening after the supper was ready, telling him stories while waiting for “courageous Hunter Mum coming back home with the prey -- the money for our living”.
