中國(guó)將堅(jiān)定不移地綜合執(zhí)行和平獨(dú)立的外交政策。中國(guó)的外交政策是為了爭(zhēng)取長(zhǎng)期健康的國(guó)際環(huán)境，尤其是為了爭(zhēng)取有利于中國(guó)社會(huì)主義現(xiàn)代化建設(shè)的環(huán)境，有利于維護(hù)世界和平，促進(jìn)共同發(fā)展的環(huán)境。
China will unswervingly carry out its independent foreign policy of peace in a comprehensive manner. China’s foreign policy serves to gain a longterm sound international environment. Particularly, the policy aims to achieve an enviroment contributive to china’s socialist modernization drive, the maintainence of world peace and the promotion of joint development.

中國(guó)將繼續(xù)加強(qiáng)同發(fā)展中國(guó)家，特別是周邊國(guó)家的經(jīng)濟(jì)關(guān)系，堅(jiān)持睦鄰友好的政策。我們要貫徹中國(guó)東盟非正式首腦會(huì)議的成果，加強(qiáng)面向21世紀(jì)的相互信任的中國(guó)東盟伙伴關(guān)系。我們要進(jìn)一步在廣泛領(lǐng)域里同西方發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家進(jìn)行合作與交流。我們要加強(qiáng)同非洲，拉丁美洲，南亞，中歐和東歐的團(tuán)結(jié)與合作，努力建立公正與合理的國(guó)際政治秩序和國(guó)際經(jīng)濟(jì)秩序。
China will continue to enforce its positive ecnomic relationship with the developing countries, and especially surrounding countries, persisting a goodneighborly and friendly policy. We will implement the outcome of chinaASEAN informal summit, and entensify the ChinaASEAN parternership of mutual trust oriented torward the 21 century. We will further develop extensive cooperation and exchange with the developed countries of the west in the widerrange areas. We will strenthen unity and cooperation with countries in Africa, Latin America, south Asia and centural and eastern Europe strving to establish a just and rational international political and economic order.

中國(guó)還將繼續(xù)參與全球性、洲際性和地區(qū)性的多邊外交活動(dòng)。在聯(lián)合國(guó)改革，地區(qū)沖突，維護(hù)和平，裁軍，軍備控制和環(huán)境保護(hù)方面發(fā)揮建設(shè)性的作用。
China will continue to take part in multilateral deplomatic activities of globle, intracontinental and regional nature and play a constructive role in fields like UN reform, the settlement of regional conflicts, peacekeeping, disarment, arms control and environmental protection.
