On the east side of the edifice is the main building with steel framework and on its west side is a reinforced concrete structure. The external wall was paneled with plane granite slab. The roof of the main building was covered with green glazed roof tiles. Some parts of the eaves were decorated with stone arch. The entrance facing the Huangpu River was originally sculptured with statues depicting the tour which Confucius had made in various states.
大廈的東大樓為主樓，鋼框架結構，西大樓為鋼筋混凝土結構。外墻以平整的花崗石鑲貼，主樓屋頂為綠色琉璃瓦，部分檐上用石拱裝飾。臨江的大門上原有孔子周游列國的石雕。
