Mention的習(xí)慣用法
1. 表示“提到”“提及”,是及物動(dòng)詞,其后接名詞或代詞作賓語時(shí),無需用任何介詞;另外注意不接雙賓語。如:
不要在孩子們面前提及此事。
誤:Don’t mention about it before the children.
正:Don’t mention it before the children.
他從未向我提及他有個(gè)女朋友。
誤:He never mentioned me his girl friend.
正:He never mentioned his girl friend to me.
正:He never mentioned to me that he had a girl friend.
2. 若后接動(dòng)詞,要用動(dòng)名詞,不能用不定式。如:
我一提起踢足球,他就說太忙。
誤:Whenever I mention to play footall, he says he’s too busy.
正:Whenever I mention playing footall, he says he’s too busy.
3. 口語中說 Don’t mention it. 主要用來回答感謝,有時(shí)也用來回答道歉。如:
A:Thank you very much. 多謝你了。
B:Don’t mention it. 不客氣。
A:I’m sorry to have troubled you. 對(duì)不起打擾你了。
B:Don’t mention it. 沒關(guān)系。
4. 用于 not to mention, 意為“更不用說”“還不算”。如:
He can speak French, German and Japanese, not to mention English. 他會(huì)說法語,德語和日語,更不用說英語。
Ther’re ten of us ready to help, not to mention [without mentioning] the children. 我們有10個(gè)人愿意幫忙,還不算小孩。?
