up 是動(dòng)詞
(1) 核對(duì);檢驗(yàn)…的精確性
(2) 檢查;調(diào)查;審查
(3) 檢查;核實(shí);查對(duì)

continue的用法與搭配
1. 表示繼續(xù)做某事,其后既可接動(dòng)名詞也可接不定式,且意義相同。如:
They continued to meet [meeting] daily. 他們繼續(xù)每天都見面。
He continued to write [writing] while in hospital. 他住院時(shí)他繼續(xù)寫作。
2. 表示繼續(xù)維持某一情況時(shí),其后可直接跟名詞作賓語,也可先接介詞with 再接賓語。如:
We will continue (with) the payments for another year. 我們這樣的報(bào)酬還要維持1年。
3. 按傳統(tǒng)語法,表示中斷以后再繼續(xù),其后通常只能是story, speech, journey, strike 這樣的名詞,而不能接不定式或動(dòng)名詞,但現(xiàn)代英語已打破此規(guī)則。如:
We continued working [to work] after the break. 休息后我們繼續(xù)工作。
4. 由于可用于及物或不及物動(dòng)詞,所以有時(shí)用主動(dòng)語態(tài)和被動(dòng)語態(tài)意思差不多。如:
The story continues [is continued] in the next issue of the magazine. 這個(gè)故事在該雜志的下一期里繼續(xù)刊載。
5. 比較 continue doing sth 與 continue by doing sth:前者表示“繼續(xù)做某事”,后者表示“接著做某事”。如:
He continued reading (=to read) all night. 他通宵在看書。
He talked about Keats, and continued by reading us a poem. 他談了濟(jì)慈,接著給我們朗誦了一首詩。
6. continued on page 15與continued from page 15 所用介詞不同,意思也不同:前者指“下續(xù)第15頁”,后者指“上接第15頁”。
7. 可用作連系動(dòng)詞,其后可接形容詞、介詞短語等。如:
We hope the weather will continue fine. 我們希望天氣繼續(xù)很好。
Mother continues in weak health. 母親身體仍然很虛弱。?
