1. Ross: Not that big a deal? It's?amazing. Ok, you just reach in there, there's one little maneuver, and bam, a bra right out the sleeve. All right, as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing a guy can do that even comes close. Am I right?

Rachel: Come on! You guys can pee standing up.

Chandler: We can? All right, I'm tryin' that.

Joey: Ok, you know what blows my mind? Women can see breasts any time they want. You just look down and there they are. How you get any work done is beyond me.

Phoebe: Oh, ok, you know what I don't get? The way guys can do so many mean things, and then not even care.

老友們關系實在太融洽了，在一起侃大山什么都敢掏心，這一次聊天不知怎么就撤到了互相揭男人女人的短上來了，Ross先開頭，他覺得女人們能像變戲法一樣地把bra 從衣服的袖子里拿出來真是太神奇了， maneuver 這個詞源自法語，本意是“體力勞動”，在英語中作名詞時是“策略、巧計、花招”的意思，在這里表示一種很巧妙的動作或手法。另外再看一下bamm，這是一個象聲詞，一聲槍響就可以用bam來形容，但它經(jīng)常被用來表示 “突然、一下子”的意思。

Rachel聽了Ross的話后也不以為然，她說: “得了，你們男人還能站著撒尿呢 (Come on! You guys can pee standing up.)” pee是個非?？谡Z化的詞，用醫(yī)學術語來表示的話就是urinate;通常我們只在熟人之間才會用pee這個詞，而在一般情況下如果你內(nèi)急了的話可以說 I need / have to go to the bathroom.

"get up the courage to do sth”，鼓足勇氣做某事，類似的詞組還有nerve oneself to do sth，be on one’s mettle to do sth，take heart of grace to do sth…生活中常需要鼓起勇氣作些事情，Chandler這里就不得不鼓足勇氣去分手：）

Joey是個花心大蘿卜，甩了Angela之后卻發(fā)現(xiàn)他犯了huge mistake,所以很后悔，但是又擺臭架子不愿意給Angela機會涮他，于是在那兒做作的數(shù)著一二三，拖延了時間后再上前，以免顯得太主動太渴望。這里“One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi”中的Mississippi沒有特殊含義，主要起到延時作用。

4. Ross: Ok, ok, now what is wrong with my Snuggles? What, it says I'm a sensitive, warm kinda guy, you know, like a little, fuzzy bear. Ok, I can pick something else up on the way.

Chandler: There you go.

Sensitive是敏感的、靈敏的意思，注意一下其他同根詞，sensible是明智的、有判斷力的意思，sensational是轟動的、聳人聽聞的意思；這里Ross聽到Chandler說他的柔順劑不好時候，進行了反駁，他說“我現(xiàn)在用的柔順劑又怎么不好了？這表明我是很靈敏、親切的人啊，就像毛毛熊一樣。”pick up的用法也很多，這里是（隨便）買的意思。

There you go口語中也很常見，可用Here/There sb go的句式概括，一般就是表示贊同、贊賞的意思或者相當于here/there you are。

5. Monica: It is so great to meet a guy who is smart and funny, and has an emotional age beyond, like eight.

首先注意一個詞組emotional age是“感情成熟年齡”的意思，人的年齡是否真的分為心理年齡和實際年齡啊？如果那樣子的話，我看幾個老友們的心理年齡估計也只有20來歲。這里Monica對于別人的男朋友幾乎一見鐘情，說他聰明瀟灑、幽默風趣、成熟穩(wěn)重。最后還來了個like eight，大概是贊他有顆童心吧。

?pull off是努力實現(xiàn)、贏得的意思，這里則是用了本意把繃帶紗布拉掉的意思。Chandler還在猶豫怎么開口，Phoebe告訴他快刀斬亂麻。

7. Rachel: Except it didn't. It happened to me. Oh, god, I'm gonna look like a big marshmallow peep. What am I doing? What am I doing? My father's right. I can't live on my own! I can't even do laundry!

“except it didn’t”可以當作固定用法記下，意思是“才不是呢”，或者學學港臺普通話翻譯成“哪有？”，似乎有點撒嬌的意思在里面了。Marshmallow peep是mashmallow的一種，樣子像小雞。Marshmallow除了藥用蜀葵的意思外，在俚語中還有“膽小懦弱、辦事沒有效率、做事不起作用的人”的意思，另外，還有“棉花糖”的意思呢。

這段對白東方人恐怕很難自然的表達出來，反正我覺得挺肉麻的，老外還真是經(jīng)常利用任何機會稱贊人呢，雖然這里的Ross有借機套近乎之嫌。Incredible，翻譯成“不可思議的，難以置信的”，生活中碰到暫時無法用言語表達溢美之詞的時候，就可以來這樣一句。

Brand new,固定用法，“全新的、嶄新的”。投之以李，報之以桃。Rachel被吹捧的云里霧中，說了一句“沒有你，我恐怕無法做到這些”（I could not have done this without you），不僅如此，她還kiss了一下Ross哦，浪漫溫馨的不得了！看來的確需要多一些贊美??！父母與子女之間、好朋友之間、妻子與丈夫之間，適當?shù)馁澝勒娴目梢宰尭星楦谇⒌?。那時候你會發(fā)現(xiàn)，原來生活可以更美的！
