1. Have you ever visited such a replica? What's your opinion on the replication of worldwide famous architectures in China?

2. List one/two reasons why Chinese are so keen on the Shanzhai culture.

3. DIY one topic as you like, but do stick to the theme.

As for me, the replica of world famous brands has little attraction no matter how real it seems to be. In my opinion, the Shanzhai culture derives from the ironic contradiction between people's low salary and high self-esteem. It reminds me of the old saying evil comes from ignorance. How can our self-confidence be measured by the clothes you wear, the handbag you carry or the luxuries you own? Or we can blame the Zhanzhai culture on people's growing vanity, which is also a part of human nature. A copycat is a copycat, if we can afford a genuine product, why still choose a counterfeit of bad quality? Moreover, we prefer a famous brand not only for its popularity but also for its brand story, which can never be copied by those superficial counterfeiters.

China is a country tormented by the nomadic invasions, thus a great amount of cultural resources was obliterated by the fire of war. Chinese is a nation who used to cherish the tradition and history, the tombs and the relics of saints and heroes were idolized and guarded by the masses. That’s why many Chinese always brag about the richness of historical monuments in China. But if you are not blind or over-proud, you will find that in many tourist resorts, the so-called famous monuments are actually a piece of replica. In Hangzhou, the tomb of YueFei, who was consecrated as YueWang(岳王),was a replica due to the craziness and brutality of Red Guards, the true heir of the communists. When the ancient monuments give way to the vandalisms and economic fever, no wonder China becomes a huge construction site of cultural replica. A nation boasts its rich history and indeed has no awe and respect towards history, who should be blamed for?
