高層大氣研究衛(wèi)星的英文：
Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, UARS

美國宇航局表示，“高層大氣研究衛(wèi)星”于2005年完成任務(wù)以來，受地心引力牽引，高度逐漸下降。這顆長10.6米、直徑4.5米的衛(wèi)星，估計最快在美國時間2011年9月22日、最晚24日(23日前后加減一天)便將墜入地球大氣層。雖然衛(wèi)星通過大氣層時多數(shù)會被燒毀，但估計仍有多達26塊、總重量約500公斤的殘骸落到地球某處，最重的一塊約重136公斤。
