美國(guó)出臺(tái)金融體系改革方案
美國(guó)財(cái)政部長(zhǎng)蓋特納26日在國(guó)會(huì)眾議院金融服務(wù)委員會(huì)作證時(shí)說(shuō),必須對(duì)金融體系進(jìn)行改革,以修補(bǔ)目前這場(chǎng)過(guò)去70年來(lái)最嚴(yán)重的金融危機(jī)所暴露出來(lái)的缺陷。這場(chǎng)危機(jī)證明,目前的金融體系太不穩(wěn)定、太脆弱。他認(rèn)為,為解決這一問(wèn)題,需要進(jìn)行全面的改革,制定全新的"游戲規(guī)則"。
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says the nation's financial system has grown too unstable and fragile. He told a congressional panel stronger regulations are needed for major players like hedge funds and nonbank financial institutions like insurance giant AIG.
Thousands of people are taking part in an around-the-clock effort, stacking sandbags to protect North Dakota's largest city from the rising Red River. It has already topped 38 feet. The National Weather Service says it could reach 41 feet by Saturday.
Sources tell the Associated Press that President Barack Obama is planning to send more troops and civilian advisers to Afghanistan. They say the additional 4000 troops will be devoted to training and advising the Afghan armed forces.
