Moonlight Shadow 《月光之影》　據(jù)說，這首1983年問世的曲子原是為紀(jì)念甲殼蟲樂隊(duì)（The Beatles）被槍殺的主唱約翰·列儂（John Lennon）而作。 1980年12月8日，馬克·查普曼偽裝成一個(gè)歌迷，在列儂的公寓旁邊徘徊了很久。那天晚上，當(dāng)列儂從錄音棚返回家中的時(shí)候，查普曼請(qǐng)列儂在他的簽字本上簽名。當(dāng)時(shí)他內(nèi)心曾進(jìn)行過激烈的斗爭(zhēng)，但最后仍然舉起手槍朝著列儂的后背連開了5槍。 和Moonlight Shadow中所寫的“He was shot six times by a man on the run”類似。 但看了原版的MTV之后，這首歌應(yīng)該和John Lennon的被刺并沒有直接聯(lián)系，似乎男主角死于一場(chǎng)決斗中，這倒象是普希金，但不知道普希金的妻子娜達(dá)麗亞會(huì)不會(huì)這樣來懷念他。

這首歌的歌詞曾經(jīng)一直被認(rèn)為是指約翰·列儂的謀殺案的，然而歌曲中的事件和列儂謀殺案并無關(guān)系。列儂是在晚11點(diǎn)前被射四槍，而歌曲中的時(shí)間是凌晨四點(diǎn)，且槍擊數(shù)為六。在1995年的一次采訪中，當(dāng)被問及《Moonlight Shadow》是否是指代約翰·列儂謀殺案時(shí)，歐菲爾德回應(yīng)道：
“并非如此……當(dāng)然，當(dāng)我回顧的時(shí)候，也許是吧。其實(shí)我是在他被槍殺的那個(gè)可怕的晚上到達(dá)紐約的，我住在維京唱片在佩里街的房子，那兒里事發(fā)的從達(dá)科他大廈僅有幾條街的路，所以它可能深埋于我的潛意識(shí)當(dāng)中了。它最初靈感來自于我喜愛的電影——托尼·柯蒂斯主演的《胡迪尼》，這是通過靈媒聯(lián)絡(luò)死去的胡迪尼……歌曲原來的影響本該如此，而這其他影響卻是我未曾想到的?！?br> ——邁克·歐菲爾德，加雷斯·蘭德爾采訪邁克·歐菲爾德
