Global stock markets rebounded strongly yesterday after last week's historic sell-off as governments from Europe to Australia to the US intensified efforts to ease a financial crisis that threatened to throw the world into recession.

在歐洲、澳大利亞及美國政府加大救市力度以緩解全球金融危機的舉措推出之后，全球股市從上周的歷史性低谷狀態(tài)全面大幅反彈。

上面的報道中，rebound 就是return to a former condition，即我們所說的“反彈”，新聞報道中也會用rally這個詞表示“反彈”之意，這兩個詞用作動詞或名詞都可以。例如：Asian stocks soar after US rally/rebound.(美國股市反彈帶動亞洲股票躥升。)

此外，短語bounce back也可以用來表示“反彈”的意思，這個短語才口語中經(jīng)常用到，一般表示improve in health，get well“(身體)復(fù)原、恢復(fù)健康”等意思，用來形容股市，當然也可以表示“反彈”之意了，例如：Stocks bounce back from earlier losses. (股票大跌后反彈)。

另外值得一提的是，rebound這個詞在籃球運動中專指“籃板球”，我們在之前的奧運專題中曾經(jīng)說到過它的用法。
