新靈魂音樂歌手肯妮·貝爾(Corinne Bailey Rae),1979年2月26日生于英國，母親是英國人，父親是西印度裔。貝爾很早就對音樂體現(xiàn)出興趣，開始她學(xué)習(xí)古典小提琴，后來得到一把電吉他，很快愛上了這種樂器。在20世紀(jì)90年代搖滾巨星的帶動下，貝爾組建了她的第一支樂隊，全女班。盡管這支樂隊在當(dāng)?shù)乜诒诲e，最后他們還是解散了，貝爾進(jìn)入里德大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)英國文學(xué)。在校時，她得到了一份在爵士音樂俱樂部的工作，促使她又一次轉(zhuǎn)向音樂生涯，這次她更多以寫作歌曲為主。最后，她和EMI公司簽約，2006年出版了以自己名字命名的首張個人專輯。
