There was only one main door leading out of the department office. Somebody might be just standing outside. The worst thing that could happen was that when Doug opened the door, he would come face-to-face with whoever was on the other side. Since it was still relatively early in the morning, Doug assumed that it was just one staff member who came to work really early. That meant that Doug just had to get pass this one person. Still staying low behind the desk, he planned to wait till that person came it.
