Based on the novel "Push" by American writer Sapphire, Precious tells the story of an obese, illiterate 16-year-old living with her abusive mother in 1980s Harlem, and her attempts to improve her life. The film was nominated for six awards; Mo'Nique won Supporting Actress for her role.
