Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was in Moscow on Sunday night for the premiere of her latest movie, the spy thriller "Salt."

Jolie plays a long-standing CIA officer named Evelyn Salt, who goes on the run after a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy.

Publicity for the film follows a recent real-life spy swap between the United States and Russia.

Speaking at the premiere, Jolie said the film's release at this time was purely coincidental.

"Obviously when we made it we had no intention of it being in any way just a theme of a movie," said Jolie.

The actress then pointed out that relations between Russia and the U.S. were good at the moment.

"I think what is happening between our countries is wonderful these days," she said.

She was also quick to point out that the film didn't show Russia in such a bad light.

"I think for Russia it's interesting because there are bad guys that maybe represent Russia but there are also good guys, and so if you look forward, I think everyone will see that it's got a nice balance."

While the biggest challenge for the Oscar-nominated actress was speaking Russian for the role, the numerous stunts she performed didn't seem to bother her.

"The most challenging thing was speaking Russian because it's a very hard language - but beautiful - and the most fun was all the stunts. All the stunts were so much fun and jumping off things. We had a few bangs and cuts and bruises but most of all it was fun," she said.

"Salt" is released in Russia this week.
