Any newlywed would be nervous about spending their first Christmas with the in-laws, but when your new relatives happen to be Britain's royal family, the festive season comes with a whole new world of rules and traditions! And with 29 senior members of the royal family heading to the queen's country estate this year, all eyes are bound to be on the royal newcomer!
新婚夫婦與對方家屬度過的第一個圣誕節(jié)定是會非常緊張，但是當你的新親戚們都是英國皇室的話，整個歡樂的季節(jié)將會伴隨著撲面而來的全新規(guī)則與傳統(tǒng)。今年，會有29名年長的皇室成員齊集女王所在地，所有的目光都集中在這個皇室新成員身上。

Instead of heading to her parents' family home in Wiltshire like last year, the Duchess is spending her first Christmas at Queen Elizabeth II's imposing Sandringham country estate. But she shouldn't show up too early – the queen's strict house rules require guests arrive no earlier than the morning of Dec. 23.
與去年回自己父母在威爾特郡的家不同，劍橋公爵夫人要在伊利莎白二世女王威風的桑德靈漢姆宮里度過自己的第一個皇家圣誕。但是她要注意不要太早去，女王嚴苛的家規(guī)規(guī)定客人不能早于12月23日早晨到達。

Although tree trimming is usually a family affair, helping granny decorate the Christmas tree is a no-no in the royal household. As the official holiday hostess, Queen Elizabeth II personally takes charge of decorating her locally grown 18-ft. spruce.

Step away from the Christmas sweater! There's no place for festive reindeer knits in the royal household on Christmas Eve. Instead, Kate will be expected to slip into a glamorous gown worthy of a red carpet gala for the family's formal black-tie dinner on Christmas Eve.
離圣誕毛衣遠一點！皇家圣誕夜可沒有節(jié)日氣氛的馴鹿毛衣的立足地。反而，圣誕夜的皇室正式晚餐上，凱特將會穿一件稱得上紅毯的華麗禮服。

To attend the 11 a.m. service at the nearby St. Mary Magdalene church with the entire royal clan, comfortable shoes, a warm coat and an elegant hat will be a must for the newcomer. Only family members with small children get a pass to ride to the service by car with the queen.
與整個皇室一同出席圣誕節(jié)早上11點在圣抹大拉的馬利亞教堂的活動時，舒服的鞋子、保暖的外套和優(yōu)雅的帽子會是這位新鮮人必須要擁有的。因為只有帶小孩的成員才能與女王一同乘車去教堂（其他人都走去教堂的）。

Kate will need to bone up the royal pecking order to find her seat at the table for the traditional turkey lunch. The Queen's female blood relatives, including daughter Princess Anne, are seated closer to the monarch than those who've married into the family, so the new recruit should forget about hobnobbing in a seat near the head of the table.
凱特為了能順利在傳統(tǒng)的火雞午餐上找到自己的位置，她要趕緊突擊訓練皇室講究的就餐順序。女王母親這邊的親戚以及她的女兒安妮公主坐得會比通過婚姻加入皇室的人靠女王近，所以這位皇室新成員千萬別太套近乎坐在離主位很近的地方。

Surprisingly, the royal household doesn't ban TV on Christmas Day. In fact, Kate will be required to join the rest of the family around the TV at 3 p.m. sharp to watch the Queen's pre-recorded Christmas broadcast. After all, it's not every family who gets to watch granny?make her very own year in review on TV!
令人意外的是，在圣誕節(jié)皇室家庭沒有禁止電視。事實上，凱特會被要求在下午3點左右與其他皇室家族成員一起觀看英國女王預錄的圣誕電視發(fā)言。畢竟不是所有家庭都能看到自己家的老奶奶在電視上對國家的一年作總結。

To get the royal family's final seal of approval, Kate will need to be a crack shot at the annual Boxing Day pheasant shoot. Proving she's as at ease in the countryside as she is in the city, the Duchess has already demonstrated her hunting skills, here on a shoot with Prince William in Dec. 2007.
